What Is BodyTite?
BodyTite is a proprietary radio-frequency assisted lipolysis (RFAL) technology developed by InMode. It delivers controlled radio-frequency (RF) energy through a dual-electrode system — an internal cannula beneath the skin and an external electrode on the skin surface — to simultaneously liquefy fat and contract the overlying skin.
What sets BodyTite apart from traditional liposuction is its skin-tightening capability. While standard liposuction removes fat effectively, it does little to address skin laxity. BodyTite's RF energy heats the deep dermal layer to a precisely controlled temperature, stimulating collagen contraction and new collagen production (neocollagenesis). The result is up to 40% skin contraction in treated areas — a significant advantage for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity who want to avoid the scars of a surgical lift.
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia in most cases, making it suitable for patients who prefer to avoid general anaesthesia. Incisions are tiny (just 2–3 mm), and the recovery profile is considerably shorter than surgical alternatives.
Important note: BodyTite is not a replacement for a surgical lift in cases of severe skin sagging. It is best suited for patients with localised fat deposits accompanied by mild to moderate skin laxity — the zone between "liposuction only" and "surgical lift."
Who Is a Good Candidate?
You may be a good candidate if you:
- Have localised fat deposits with mild to moderate skin laxity
- Want both fat reduction and skin tightening without surgical lift scars
- Are at or close to your ideal body weight
- Have good overall skin quality but have noticed loss of firmness in specific areas
- Prefer a minimally invasive procedure with shorter downtime
BodyTite may not be appropriate if you:
- Have severe skin sagging or large amounts of redundant skin — a surgical lift is more effective
- Have a significantly elevated BMI — BodyTite is a contouring procedure, not a weight-loss tool
- Have metal implants (such as pacemakers or defibrillators) near the treatment area — RF energy may interfere
- Have conditions that impair healing or increase sensitivity to heat-based treatments
How BodyTite Is Performed
Understanding the process helps set realistic expectations. Here is a step-by-step overview of a BodyTite procedure in Thailand.
Anaesthesia
BodyTite is typically performed under local anaesthesia with light sedation, though general anaesthesia may be used for larger treatment areas or patient preference.
Tumescent infiltration
A tumescent solution (saline with local anaesthetic and adrenaline) is infused into the target areas. This numbs the tissue, constricts blood vessels, and creates a fluid buffer that enhances RF energy delivery.
RF energy delivery
The surgeon inserts the BodyTite handpiece through a tiny 2–3 mm incision. The internal electrode (a thin cannula) delivers RF energy beneath the skin while the external electrode rests on the skin surface. Built-in thermal sensors monitor temperature in real time.
Fat liquefaction
The RF energy liquefies targeted fat cells, which are then gently aspirated through the same cannula. The internal heating simultaneously coagulates small blood vessels, resulting in less bruising than traditional liposuction.
Skin contraction
As the deep dermal layer reaches the target temperature (typically 38–42°C externally), collagen fibres contract immediately and the biological process of neocollagenesis begins.
Closure
The tiny incisions may be closed with a single suture or left open to allow drainage. A compression garment is applied immediately.
Preparing for Your BodyTite Procedure
Preparation for BodyTite is straightforward, reflecting the minimally invasive nature of the treatment.
Medical Clearance
- • Share your full medical history, all current medications, supplements, and allergies.
- • Blood tests are completed before the procedure.
- • Inform your surgeon of any metal implants, pacemakers, or defibrillators.
Lifestyle Adjustments
- • Stop smoking at least two weeks before and after the procedure.
- • Discontinue aspirin, ibuprofen, and blood-thinning supplements at least two weeks prior.
- • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before the procedure.
Day of Procedure
- • No food or drink for at least 6 hours before if sedation or general anaesthesia is planned.
- • Shower on the morning of the procedure; do not apply lotions to the treatment areas.
- • Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
Practical Planning
- • Arrange accommodation close to the hospital for your post-procedure recovery.
- • Plan to stay in Thailand for a minimum of 7 days.
- • Most patients can manage independently after BodyTite, though a travel companion is helpful.
Recovery and Aftercare
BodyTite recovery is one of the procedure's most attractive features — significantly shorter than surgical alternatives with less discomfort.

Risks and Complications
BodyTite has one of the strongest safety profiles among body-contouring technologies, owing to its real-time thermal monitoring system. Choosing a board-certified surgeon at a JCI-accredited facility further reduces risk.
Common Side Effects
- • Swelling and mild bruising — less than traditional liposuction; resolves over 1 to 3 weeks
- • Temporary numbness or warmth — typically resolves within days to a few weeks
- • Minor fluid drainage — from incision sites for the first 1 to 2 days
Less Common Complications
- • Contour irregularities — minor unevenness that typically resolves as swelling subsides
- • Infection — minimised through sterile technique
- • Seroma — fluid collection that may require aspiration
- • Thermal injury — extremely rare due to BodyTite's built-in temperature safeguards
- • Scarring — incisions are 2–3 mm and typically heal to nearly invisible points
The dual-electrode design with continuous temperature monitoring makes BodyTite one of the safest RF-based body-contouring technologies available. Wearing the compression garment and attending follow-up appointments ensure the best possible outcome.
